HALLO, I'm Kirstin. I'm the Art Director and Senior Graphic Designer for The Public Theater in New York City. Under the creative direction of the legendary Paula Scher, my aim is to uphold the graphic standard of The Public's visual identity--by inventing fresh seasonal campaigns for the theater and leading a growing in-house design team responsible for producing all of the non-profit institution's collateral. (We are Paula's factory). A deep love of theater as an art form and a devotion to beautiful typography fuels my passion for creating meaningful work that represents the cultural force that is The Public.
Last year I completed an artist residency with The Bellwether, in which I presented a one-night-only event called Wretched Scrapbook. This multi-media experience and collection of work that came from it is an ongoing personal project– a story about reclaiming my body and following my dream of becoming a dancer after having two major open hip surgeries. I'm making collages, zines promoting self care, and videos of myself dancing to punk rock in my bedroom.
When I'm not designing posters or soaking up inspiration from brave new plays, I am daydreaming about travel, stretching, trying to learn new languages, drafting obsessively detailed lists, and making noise with my band Curry Puffs. I love to collaborate–hit me up if you want to make something weird. CIAO x
